Connaught Youth Centre Programs
Our therapeutic and prevention-based programs are unique in Prince George. We offer both CORE programs as well as COMMUNITY programs.
We offer programs specifically for allowing children and youth to have a safe, fun, creative, and healthy place to just be themselves and participate in enriching activities. With the therapeutic horse program offsite but still downtown and only three blocks away, we are truly a unique place in the heart of Northern BC.
CORE Programs
We provide a positive environment for Prince George children and youth with our four no cost core programs:
CYC After School Club | CYC Youth Drop-in Gymnastics | CYC Community Kitchen | CYC + Equip for Life
CYC After School Club.
Thursdays | 3pm - 5pm
CYC Youth Drop-in Gymnastics.
Fridays | 3pm - 5pm
It all started here years ago, once per week on Fridays we offered children and youth after school gym time, recreational sports, games and crafts. We added gymnastics and then vaulting (gymnastics on horseback – on a constructed horse in the gym) – the kids love it!
We still offer all of the above (staff and volunteers dependent) and have added a bouncy castle once per month and a billiards room. Our healthy snacks happen at 4:00pm. Ages 6-12. Pre-schoolers are welcome to attend with guardians and 13 to 16 may attend as long they have participating younger siblings and fully participate in the program.
CYC Community Kitchen.
Occasionally throughout year
Throughout the year we occasionally offer cooking classes with a local chef for the children and youth on a Thursday or Friday afternoon.
Contact us to find out when our next Community Kitchen will be offered.
CYC + Equip for Life.
Wednesdays | 11am - 5pm
Come meet Catharine at 1099 Porter Ave to spend time with the horses on a five-acre farm with yurt (Be Herd Wellness Centre). This program runs from the Spring until the Fall.

Cadets
The Connaught Youth Centre is the only place in Canada that is home to four different Cadets groups:
Air Cadets, Army Cadets, Navy League Cadets and Sea Cadets.
The Air Cadets 396 City of Prince George Royal Canadian Air Cadets parades (meets) on a weekly basis every Tuesday at the Connaught Youth Centre in the back, up the green stairs.
On parade nights we learn a variety of skills such as citizenship, teamwork, leadership, drill (marching), range, sports and flying. Usually, the older cadets and Staff teach the younger cadets the skills necessary to advance in the Cadet Program. Besides these weekly meetings, we also have various weekend activities throughout the year doing things like outdoor survival training, gliding days, sports, drill and range competitions.
Being in a Cadet Squadron gives you the opportunity to try new things and meet friends who share the same interests as you. Many cadets meet life-long friends in the program.
